My permission to be creative

As you may already know, last week I attended this amazing experience called Summer Camp which was hosted by my friend Heather Hubbard. Heather is an amazing coach who had a vision for clients and did everything possible to bring it to fruition. I am so impressed by this woman that I am writing my first newsletter about her and her programs as well as hosting a two-part podcast series (be on the look-out for it).

So let me give you some background. Up until about a year ago, I didn’t know who Heather was. It turns out that she and I had a mutual client. This mutual client who you will meet on the podcast, kept talking about her experience with me to Heather and her experience with Heather to me. In February 2020, Heather, being the amazing leader that she is, invited me to be a guest on her podcast as well as a guest expert for her 2020 Experience Mastermind group.

From this simple reach out, I gained 5 Guest Expert clients, 2 new clients of my own, a speaking event unrelated to Heather’s Group (they heard me on her podcast) and a spot on the Summer Camp Stage. When she initially invited me to Summer Camp, it was being held at the Miraval Resort in Austin, TX. Austin, TX,  say no more- I am there.

I had heard about the resort in Arizona from our mutual client and decided to do some research now that the invitation had been extended. It was the perfect place to host a retreat called Summer Camp. I was excited about the opportunity as well as being able to experience a place like that. Then COVID-19 happened. I didn't give any further thought to Summer Camp because we were all on lockdown. But Heather did not allow that to break her. She was committed to her vision and was determined to make it happen no matter what.

So she and her team set out to do the impossible-HOST A VIRTUAL SUMMER CAMP.  Well actually, they set out to do something a bit harder, it was a hybrid model. What do I mean by that? She and her “production team” made a deal with the resort to be able to show up on the property and have the property be the home base for Summer Camp. So much went into making this event happen and the effort showed. It was flawless.

The intention that she set for herself was a major success. The participants were blown away by what she created. As was I. I presented on the first day of camp and I was able to enjoy the remainder as a participant. This event was truly transformational. I left there a different person as did so many others. Watching Heather use her go get it spirit ignited something in me and I wanted to share this will all of you. One of the things that came from Summer Camp was this newsletter.

I had been so busy working that I had not taken time for myself and I was beginning to feel it. Summer Camp gave me the permission to be creative, to meet other people like Heather, to play, and to DISRUPT my everyday life. I never did get to go to camp as a child, but if I did, I sure wish it would have been an experience like this one.

When you are ready for your next level, you have to do something you’ve never done before. It doesn’t matter if you are the one giving or receiving- just do it! Be sure to join me on the Brand Disruptors Podcast two-part series featuring Heather Hubbard and some of our mutual clients talking about our experience at Summer Camp. You are not going to want to miss it. If you are a high-level, no-excuses given, badass, be sure to check out the Limited Edition Program she created to help you make your 2020 all that you thought it would be and more.
